Deh4/6 909
Luggage Railcar
For more than four decades the railcars with luggage compartment of class Fhe, (later Deh4/6 901 to 916) hauled the main load over the meter gauge Brünig pass between Lucerne and Interlaken Ost. These vehicles for adhesion and rack and pinion operation first appeared when the line was electrified in 1941/42, and were only gradually phased out when the modern multi-purpose locomotives of class HGe4/6 1951 and 1952 were delivered in 1985. These distinctive railcars with a total length of 14.6 meters feature two bogies with adhesion drive and a centre trailer bogie that houses the cog wheel drive of Riggenbach type. Nowadays some of these reliable units, now designated De110 and Deh120 respectively, are still operated by the Zentralbahn.
