NURNBERG 2012 REPORT from WINCO
Welcome to WINCO's 2012 Nurnberg Report. As always my report in no way reflects the whole show - just the ranges (represented this year) that we deal with. I hope it is informative, even though the current financial climate is none too great.
This year due to the strange flight days and times courtesy of AirBerlin I had one day less at the Fair which meant all my meetings were pre-booked and came thick and fast over the 2 1/2 days available to me.
I would stress that if there are specific things you want to obtain that you use our pre-order scheme to ensure you receive your models / requirements. In the current recession we would prefer to bring in items that are required rather than hold loads of "dead stock" - this then means we can concentrate on sourcing other assorted items people are interested in obtaining.
BEMO HOm / HOe:
A flood of new liveries, running numbers and also one or two completely new items. All these models should already have been uploaded onto our website (www.winco.uk.com) by the time you read this Report.
By the time Club members and others read this they will have received the New Items leaflets and order forms and possibly the new BEMO 2012 price list. There has been a little movement in some prices whilst others have stayed the same but the new list shows what is actually or will be available for 2012 so because of all the foregoing I will only list a few of the major new items:
For the RhB - 1295114 METAL COLLECTION 2-6-0 Steam Loco G 3/4 14 in black & green and 1254106 Ge 6/6 II "Disentis" in green which marks "100 Years of the Chur/Disentis" Line - this also comes in digital. The BERNINA Railcar comes in two versions - ABe 4/4 No. 51 "Poschiavo" in red and No. 53 in "Credito Valtellinese" livery - both of these are also available as digital sound. The Ge 4/4 II's are represented by 1258158 "Bergun" in new red with rectangular lights and 1258163 No. 633 in "RTR" livery.
The DFB now has another METAL COLLECTION in the pipeline (the previously announced model not having appeared as yet) and this time is 1294281 "Furkahorn" in blue.
The MGB is represented by HGe 4/4 "DOM" 1262553 / Deh II "Goschenen" with rectangular headlights 1264251 and for the FO line HGe 4/4 II No. 108 "Channel Tunnel" 1262218 and Old-timer HGe 4/4 I No. 35. Please be aware the latter model has a pre-order "Cut off date". Also announced but possibly not available until 2013 is FO BDeh Railcar No. 43 in red and No. 44 in red with white band - codes 1247213 and 1247214 respectively.
For the MOB a Ge 4/4 III returns in "Panoramic Express" livery (1259301) together with 5 individual matching coaches - all with the "Swiss Flag" emblem on them. Also BDe 4/4 3002 appears in 60-70's livery (1281302).
There are many new coaches and wagons all of which are shown in the New Items leaflet. A few models to note are an RhB Luggage Van DS4226 with pantograph no. 3270173 / "Piano Bar" Coach for the Alpine Classic
no. 3274120 / a new Refrigerator Wagon in white 2269121 / Cement Wagon "Lanxess" 2289138 (this one also has a "Cut Off date") and 3 new Sl type Wagons on behalf of "ATS".
As for the German outline there will be 5 new Metal Mallets two of which are 1016867 DR 99 566 and 1016869 "Dolltnitzbahn" 99 584. Also another Diesel L45H code no. 1020878.
BEMO Om: At long last it is to materialise!
To begin with 3 Closed Vans then 2 "CoOp" Refrigerated Wagons, an RhB 2-axle Cement Wagon and finally in 2013 a Ge 4/4 II. This is the first time a Cement and Refrigerator Wagon have been commercially available in this scale so perhaps it may instill the Om range of FAMA/Golden Trains/ UTZ/AlpinLine (to name but a few) to regenerate?
My only hope is that production of the Om does not impair the current HOm ranges.
BRAWA:
A massive 86-page New Items brochure covering O, HO and N products. We already have these booklets in stock so a book of 6 x 2nd Class stamps should pay towards the postage please. Below I will list just a few of the new items to whet your appetite.
As "O" is not so popular in the UK I will leave that gauge out but obviously we will order in any BRAWA item you may request using our pre-order scheme.
HO Gauge - Keep a lookout for the Exhibition models. Each year BRAWA release 3 or 4 models, usually wagons that can only be ordered at the Nurnberg Fair. These are short-runs and quite collectable.
The first new mould of 2012 is to be an 0-8-0 Tender Class G.7 Steam Loco in various guises - 40700 K.P.E.V, 40704 DRG, 40712 DR, 40708 DB, 40716 BBO, 40720 OBB and 40112 SNCF. The V100 Diesel appears in DR green/grey 41220, "ITL" 41228, "Spilzke Logistik" 41224, "Wiener Lokalbahn" Loco WLB90 41224 and "HSB" code 41232. Another new model is Class VT 137 Diesel Railcar 44180 DRG livery / 44188 DR and 44184 DB livery.
There are 3 new Bogie Swiss Old-time Coaches - 45055 Luggage Van, 45056 1st/2nd Class and 45057 3rd Class. For the wagons there is another new moulding of a 2-axle Tank Wagon in various Epoches and markings.
N Gauge - BRAWA are to produce an N scale model of the GRAVITA 10 BoBo Diesel Locomotive in various liveries - 62708 "MRCE" / 62701 "Northrail" / 62704 "PanLog" (Swiss) and 62706 "Gerlafingen" (also Swiss). More versions of the Swiss EW II Coaches in green with blue-stripe livery - 65206 1st Class / 65207 2nd / 65208 2nd with different running number. There are also quite a few loco revamps and coach and wagon repaints.
Hopefully pictures of these will feature on our website shortly.
BUSCH: A change of Importer this year so I think we will discontinue this range. However I am tempted to carry the Feldbahn (Narrow Gauge Industrial Trains) especially now it has its own trackage system therefore no longer relying on the MARKLIN Z track.
I will make some enquiries and see what we can do with direct ordering for this range in the future.
FALLER:
A large 48-page New Items brochure for 2012 full of new products, some large ones, some small and some quirky! Here are just a few:
HO Gauge - 110123 "Warhausen" Station and from the same town comes 130909 "Knopf & Knopf" Museum which is the same station building and was converted to a Museum in 1999. There is a large imposing Station 110124 "Ohringen" which looks very drab. Code 110088 is a small Stone Station / Halt which could be incorporated into Narrow Gauge layout and there is also a tiny Halt - 110087 which would barely take a 2-axle Coach. 130194 is a small Distillery. For the more rural buildings we have 130193 Glass Blower's Workshop / 130191 Carpenter's Workshop and 130195 a Rope Manufacturing Plant. This year's PREMIUM Model is a "Fitness Centre" 130324 with a Rock climbing wall leading to a roof garden. There is also a building which is described as a "Mountain Rescue Cabin" (code 130326) but this could easily be used as an Alpine Chalet and would look at home on any mountain layout. 180390 is a Wooden Dam for building water levels up stream. 130438 is an upmarket Hotel with Restaurant which looks a bit like a castle and 180609 is two Glass and Steel Lifts which could be placed anywhere - stations or sides of buildings? A quite novel concept. Finally from my personal selection a Garden Sauna made out of a barrel (which is unusual) - code 180607 and 130489 is a Butchers and Bakery Shop with an Outdoor Eating area. The 2012 Funfair model is a "Fun Ship", a giant Swing Boat ride (code 140420) complete with motor and lighting.
N Gauge - there is a cute Alpine Chalet (code 232357) / a Clubhouse (222210) which could be used for Football pitches, Golf Clubs or any situation like that. Also a rather unique N gauge Engine Shed with working doors which can be operated by locomotives or manually. Finally
3 Town Buildings - 232332 a City Cafe / 232330 Sport's Shop and 232331 a Town house undergoing renovation with scaffolding up the front.
FerroTRAIN:
I don't usually mention FerroTrain in my Report but this year I've had some paperwork in early enough to include a few new items.
For the Rack system there are 6 new Bogie coaches - the 1401 Series -01 green / -02 red / -03 blue with 15 windows and in the 1402 Series again -01 green / -02 red and -03 in blue but this time with 17 windows. There is also a wood kit of the middle Schafberg Station "Schafberg-Alm".
In HOe the 2190 Diesel reappears as 2090.01 in OBB orange and 2090.003-0 comes in red - codes 202-501 and 202-503 respectively.
We do not receive a discount on any of the Ferro brass items so therefore it is not viable to bring these items over.
HERIS:
Lots of new variants of existing models here but also still a lot of previously announced new items to materialise. Some of the new variants are:
Uacs Silo Wagons in sets of 2 in the following liveries - 11515 "VTG", 13521 "VTG Austria", 15051 "EVS", 11565 "EVS/MAPEI", 11517 "EVA DB" and 11518 "EVS/JOSERA". A set of 4 Silo Wagons - 11532 "VTG/HOLCIM". Also single Silo Wagons - 11533 "FLELBINDER", 15048 "Ciments CALCIA", 11566 "VTG/KEMIRA" and 11539 "GATX/DYCKERHOFF". Another wagon is the Tarpaulin Wagon Type Kbis in OBB grey code 13525 and 15516 SJ "Nordwaggon". There is a Type P Silver Sleeper as used on the Swiss HUPAC trains - code 13032. Code 13033 is a Comfort Coach with OBB Logo as used on the Roll-Roll Lorry Trains. The Bogie Glass Transporter Wagons come in two sets of 4 x Wagons - 12510 with SNCB markings and 15043 the French "St-Gobian" Company. There are also two sets of Double-deck Sleeping Coaches of the VR Company - 14650 in white & red (Epoche V) and 14651 white & green (Epoche VI). The latter will match the ROCO VR Electric Class Sr2 (SBB 460) code 72507.
At long last some Belgian DoubleDeck Coaches are coming over and some more Belgian Restaurant Car re-runs. Please keep an eye on the "Latest Arrivals" section on our website to check as and when these come in.
HAG:
Not much to report here as with us HAG have not had great sales this year. The Company has been bought by a new owner, although the staff remain the same. The new owner wants to inject more money into the business to make new models - not just the normal repaints. Considering the quality of HAG it is surprising that their products don't sell as well as they should. Anyway a new product to be produced is the Swiss 484 SBB BLS 485 Class Loco. Although the other manufacturers make this the HAG quality and pulling power should outclass all the others.
Last year they announced the STADLER Ee Shunter and this will appear later in 2012. Now for some of the new liveries:
The S-BAHN Set comes in a great new two-sided livery. I can't describe it but it's great and we have quite a few of the New Item leaflets available so you can see for yourself! The S-BAHN Loco now comes with "100 Years Bernina" Livery. The SBB 460 plain red comes with 5 new names - "Bodensee" / "Val de Travers" / "Mendrisiotto" / Lavaux" and "Val de Trient" although the latter does have "JA" in large white letters on the side. As far as liveried 460's go there is "Verkehrshaus III".
The GTW 2/8 4-Unit Railcar now comes in a new THURBO livery (code 34 101) and the GTW 2/6 comes in the "Theater St Gallen" Livery (code 34 010).
Announced for this year are ten new Re 6/6 versions including two in "CARGO" livery. There are also some coaches and wagons mostly left over from last year which haven't materialised as yet.
We have a number of New Items leaflets for this range if you are interested - 2 x 2nd Class Stamps please should cover postal costs.
JAGERNDORFER:
Still lots of items to come out from this Austrian firm but there are also some new announcements as well in HO.
The Class 1063 Electric Shunter appears in 2 liveries and the Class 1064 Electric Shunter also in 2 liveries. Their famous TAURUS comes in "HUPAC" livery together with a "Football Team" livery and the famous Hungarian "SISI" livery. The latter is also to appears as an N version. Jagerndorfer are sponsoring this loco in real-life. Also in N there is to be a 3-car DoubleDeck Coach set in CAT livery to match the Hobbytrain loco. Now back to HO - not only is the OBB Class 4020 3-Car EMU out (previously announced) in four blue/white versions but there is also to be a set in CityShuttle Livery - code 40400.
Jagerndorfer are also teaming up with HORNBY to produce an OBB Epoche III 1073 Electric (code HR2211) and BBO Epoche II Class 1029 Electric (code HR2120) as well as another OBB 5047 Diesel Railcar (code HR2300).
Last but not least a brilliant working modern Gondola Lift with top and bottom Stations fully lit. I think these will be very popular and put the old BRAWA ones to shame.
KIBRI / VIESSMANN:
A little disappointing this year - very little new whatsoever in the kit range.
In "N" gauge there is a nice Station Platform with built-in LED lighting (code 47759) and in the HO range just 3 items - 39219 a large Garage for Fire Engines, 38542 a smaller version and 39220 Fire Brigade Administration Building. All three kits have previously been available in different guises. VIESSMANN now have approximately 70% of KIBRI models in stock.
LEMKE / KATO / HOBBYTRAIN:
Lots of reliveries and new items from this manufacturer/distributor for 2012. I believe I have mentioned previously that LEMKE purchased the N gauge moulds from MEHANO and low and behold some versions of the VOSSLOH G2000 are scheduled to appear under the HOBBYTRAIN banner -
H2950 MRCE/ERS, H2951 SBB Cargo, H2952 Railion and H2954 SNCF liveries. Also in the HOBBYTRAIN range - H22055 CityNightLine Set with loco ES 64 U2 and 3 x Coaches and H22056 CityNightLine Set of 4 matching Coaches. H23652 is a BLS Tm 235, H23561 is the same type in DB yellow and H23560 a DB unmotorised version again in yellow. The VECTRON loco appears in 2 new guises - H2963 Railpool and H2966 in SNCB livery. H2766 is an OBB 1116 in "CAT" livery to match the Jagerndorfer coaches and the TAURUS also appears as H2719 "Train of Ideas", H2720 "Mammut" and H2913 BR189 in RTC Zebra design. There is also a Diesel G1700 H2967 in the yellow "Arcelor Mittal" livery and for German modellers - H2880 E310 in blue / H2881 BR181 in cream & turquoise and H2882 E410 in blue/grey.
The SBB IC2000 Coaches will be rerun with different running numbers. We strongly recommend pre-ordering these models this time to ensure you get the ones you want - H25108 1st Class, H25109 2nd Class, H25110 1st/
Baggage, H25111 Driving Trailer "Globi" and H25112 Bistro/Restaurant Coach.
Also on the Swiss theme and under the KATO banner - K23118 2nd Class Coach with old logo and lighting and K23117 2nd Class Coach with the new logo (Epoche V) again with lighting.
One other product which caught my eye was an N gauge modern 2-unit Articulated Tram in 3 variants - depending on the feedback we get for these will depend on whether or not we go ahead and stock them.
There are many other items due out this year from this manufacturer but many are not really our scene but obviously we will order them in if required. New Item leaflets should be available shortly.
LEMKE / MEHANO: LEMKE have now bought the remaining MEHANO HO railway stock but unfortunately a lot of this is AC. However in the future it is expected that LEMKE/MEHANO will collaborate to market more HO models under the HOBBYTRAIN badge.
LS:
LS have produced a smaller catalogue for Nurnberg 2012 - some of the items have already been announced such as the 10 versions of the SBB Bm 6/6 and various sets of SBB Coaches alongwith the Swiss RAe / RABe Sets and the German Class 403 EMU's but there are also quite a few completely new items shown such as the VECTRON locomotive in various prototype guises / the ICE 1 EMU / loads of different liveries for the German BR 120 Electric / various versions of the DB Class 101 Electrics / Push-Pull set for the Metropolitan and tons of variants of Coaches in German, Swiss, Austrian and Russian liveries.
As and when any of them will appear I have no idea but rest assured a lot of them will be coming WINCO's way!
LILIPUT:
HO first and listing mainly the SWISS outline - The FLIRT 4-Car EMU appears in a new livery under code 133999. There is also to be a complete new EMU Type KISS Double-deck version of the FLIRT. The initial set 133920 will consist of a 4-car Unit with an extra 2 x additional extension Coaches (133921). The DOMINO Set will come with a new livery consisting of a 3-car EMU "GLARNER SPRINTER" code 133941 with an additional 3-Coach matching Set - code 133961.
We suggest all the above items are pre-ordered and if you want a 6-coach Set don't just order a 3/4 coach Set initially and then hope you can get the add-on parts later because it just doesn't work that way!
As far as wagons go there are some new liveried SBB or Private Tipping Wagons and three new "Post" Wagon sets.
For the German modeller there is a new construction of the BR75 Steam Loco 131181 DRG Epoche II and 131182 DB Epoche III. A completely new model is the DR Class 53 in Epoche II code 131962 and the classic DB Class 219 comes in 3 versions - 132023 and 132024 which are DB Epoche IV red/grey with different running numbers and 132029 Epoche V in cream & red.
Narrow Gauge - the Zillertal Bogie Diesel comes out in red as D13 (142101) and as D16 in blue with various adverts on it (142109). The Driving Trailer and matching Coach (344522 / 344532) are also being rerun with a slight livery change and believe it or not specially for Austria an OBB version of the D Loco and another STLB 3-car version. Why oh why can't they be in the general range?
The U2 Steam Loco Zillertal No. 1 is being reissued and the Zillertal Equipment Van is being reissued with a "LILIPUT" advert on it - code 371012.
Finally as a bonus the N gauge FLIRT is also going to reappear in "Seehaus" markings (code 163992). Due to the shortage of this model when first run it is imperative that you pre-order to secure.
L.G.B.:
As per normal I will only cover the Swiss production (if it ever materialises!). 20220 a 3-Car RhB "Allegra" unit - not due out until 2013 but I do hope they get the proportions correct and don't try to squash it up. The same unit is also due with Sound (code 20225). These should be great if they get it right but a lot of money if it looks like a toy! There is a Set of 2 x yellow Bernina Coaches to go with the existing one - I didn't realise there were 3 in service or perhaps it's a figment of my imagination?
The RhB Ge 2/4 appears as code 23450 No. 202 in green (did it ever appear like this - someone will let me know?). There is also a new "CoOp" Refrigerated Wagon "Lemon" (45897) and a set of RhB Gravel Hoppers - one brown / one yellow (49690). Another version of the "Post" Wagon (47893) / two Bogie Closed Vans "KUONI" (47571) and "CALANDA" (47570). Last but not least two MOB Wagons "CARDINAL BIER" (40284) and "Glacier des DIABLERETS" (41284) - watch out for the similar code numbers!
MINITRIX:
This year we will not be producing a separate MINITRIX price list. Our stocks for this range will appear on our "N Gauge Selection" listings which is reprinted on a monthly basis. However as always if there is anything specific you require we will try to obtain them for you using our pre-order scheme. Below are a few items we would hope to stock, supplier's willing!
12352 SBB CARGO Am 482 / 15523 Bogie Flat with 3 XXL "inno freight" Containers / 15522 same as 15523 but with 3 x "SBB CARGO" Containers, 12471 SNCF "FRET" class 461 Diesel Loco, 15519 DB Bogie flat with 3 XXL "Woodtainer" containers and 15531 Bogie Flat with 4 x 5 Containers "inno freight".
For 2012 we want to concentrate on the HobbyTRAIN / KATO / Rocky Rail N gauge ranges, all of which we have more control over.
OS.KAR:
At long last I think I may be able to source OS.KAR Models much more readily. Up until recently we have missed out on quite a lot of their items but hopefully this will change shortly.
In the near future we hope to have some of the SNCF 75400 FRET Locos with three different running numbers and standard SNCF 75000 Electrics as well as the FRET BB27000 Locos. Also as soon as they go back into production some variants of the FS D.342 and D.341 Diesel Locos.
PIKO:
As usual I will only report on the Expert and Hobby ranges and forget about the Classic range although we will always orders this range in if required.
PIKO HOBBY - TAURUS Locos - 57915 "Hectorail" and 57916 "DB AG"
BR 185 - 57933 "Captrain"
BR 146 - 57934 "DB AG"
BR 189 - 57950 "LOCON" / 57464 "Lokomotion" / 57469 "ACTS" BR 101 - 59449 DB SCHENKER "ECO2 Phant"
French BB426184 in "FRET" Livery.
Diesel Locos appear as 57980 Herkules "ENERCON" and there are 2 versions of G1700 - 59416 "LDS" and 59416 "Vossloh".
There are also quite a few Container wagons which we also hope to be able to supply.
PIKO EXPERT - the Swiss STADLER GTW 2/8 comes in 2 new Thurbo liveries basically with different colour doors - 59529 purple & green and 59530 red & yellow. The same unit is available as 59524 Austrian "GKB" / 59331 French "ARRIVA" and 59532 "VEOLIA". The G1206 is represented by 59490 "ACTS" / 59491 "HUSA" / 59492 "STRUCTON" / 59493 "CFL Cargo" (red) / 59494 "CFL Cargo" (blue) and 59188 NS 6400.
The Class BR185 is covered by 59522 "Neubaur" / 59533 "Metronom" / 59554 "Locomotion" and 59555 "ITL" and the BR183 / Rh1216 comes as 59906 "InterCity PKP" and 59907 "Cargo-Serv".
PREISER: All-in-all a little disappointing this year. Very little new although quite a few individual figures which don't appear to be that popular here in the UK as far as our sales go and the other new items are rather theme orientated and not particularly inspiring.
POLA G:
A few new items for this year from this range, the most stunning being a Barrier Level Crossing and Gate Keeper's House (item 331001). There is also 331050 which is described as a "Garden Shed" but looks more like a Summer House to me.
ROCO / FLEISCHMANN:
Modelleisenbahn have changed their marketing in the UK from 2012 - whether it will work only time will tell? Their stand at Nurnberg this year looked as if they had left 80% of their stuff back at the factory and this was not only my observation!
ROCO: a 100-page booklet and as far as I can see there is nothing new in it at all. A few KLEIN items have slipped in and some colours have been changed but that's about it. We should have deliveries of the booklet by the time you receive this report. A book of 6 x 2nd Class stamps please should pay postal costs. Failing that we will take some to the Eastleigh and SRS exhibitions. I am just going to list a few items that may be of interest to our customers to wet the appetite.
HOe: very disappointing this year. There is another variant of the 1099 Mariazell Electric Loco in the usual red & cream (code 33223) and 3 x 2nd Class matching coaches 34015, 16 and 17 plus a 2nd/Baggage code 34018.
HO: a Class BR204 in "RTS" Swielelsky Livery - code 72840. There are 3 versions of the DB Class 155 Electric - 62437 in red with white front / 62436 DB CARGO Livery and 72605 DB-AG red. In OBB there is an orange 2045 Diesel - code 63910 (always a popular model). The "RailJET" Loco and Coach Sets appear as "Spirit of Innsbruck" and there are also a lot of ex-KLEIN Modellbahn 2-axle Coaches. For Switzerland the Ae 8/14 reappears (last made for "150 Years of Swiss Rail" Celebrations) - code 62638. Also a red Ae 6/6 named "WALLIS" - code 62642, a BLS Ae 4/4 also returns and there is a set of 3 x 1st Class EW IV ICN Coaches in a special livery. For the Dutch modeller a Class 204 Diesel "NL Railion" - code 72841 and a 2-Car EMU Honderkoop (ex Fleischmann I think) - code 63160 plus a 4-Car version in 1970's Livery - code 63165. Also a modern "HUSA" Electric type ES64F4 no. 096 - code 62423. For CD modellers a CD CARGO Diesel Class 750 in blue - code 62933. The same loco is also available in standard CD livery as code 72922. There is also a CD version of the RegioShuttle code 63184. The Italian Railways are covered by an E474 in "NordCARGO" livery - code 62376 and two ES64U4 Electrics - 62378 "InRail" and 62379 "Ferrovie Udine".
FLEISCHMANN HO: yet another thick leaflet and the same applies please - a book of 6 x 2nd Class stamps to cover postage.
As it's 125 Years of FLEISCHMANN there are quite a few models being released to celebrate the fact. A lot of the items are quite modern - ICE Sets / BR145's and BR103 Electric. All way on from FLEISCHMANN's remit of being up to Epoche III. Anyway still far too many items to list so send in for the brochure please if you would like a copy.
FLEISCHMANN N: once again quite a large brochure so 6 x 2nd Class Stamps please if you would like a copy. This year is a Swiss dream - Fleischmann are making a Class 460 / 465 which is strange as MINITRIX and KATO cover this loco quite well and at lower prices. In fact the name of the BLS version is the same as the recently issued KATO model but let's not be too defeatist as there are some modern EW IV Coaches - 3 x SBB and 3 x BLS versions together with 2 Driving Trailers which should make up the gap in the market. there are also some nice Austrian and CFL Coaches which will be good for the N modellers.
For more info please see the FLEISCHMANN website or keep a look out in our Newsletters.

TRIX HO:
From this manufacturer we would hope to obtain the SBB CARGO Re 6/6 - code 22944 and also the OBB Class 694 Tank Loco no. 22161 plus a few other bits and pieces but again supplier willing!
VK Modelle: Some great new Swiss and Austrian Post Buses from this manufacturer based on the SOLARIS Hybrid technology. A new supplier to add to our bow with the first delivery hopefully arriving early April 2012. Watch our website / Newsletters for more details.
ViTRAINS: Nothing particularly new here. There are quite a few new liveries but it looks as if some of the outstanding items announced over the past couple of years will appear this year. ViTRAIN is an exceptional product and it's a shame the sales are not higher in the UK. Unfortunately the British range with the same name is not a patch on the quality of the European models. Personally I think ViTRAINS shot themselves in the foot when they put their name to the British product.
VOLLMER: In my opinion VOLLMER is the premier kit manufacturer.
This year there are some new models, reintroduction of previously discontinued model (RETRO) and more of the BIO kit models. After a long talk with VOLLMER they told me how they wanted to keep away from the Laser kit route and continue using as much recyclable products as possible. Now on with the new releases - HO first:
3451 "Kulmbach" Station / 2002 "Euro Bank" (which also functions as a Piggy Bank! / 5622 Railway Hazardous Good Store / 5156 small "ARAL" Petrol Station / 3608 Fitness Centre with Roof Cafe / 3611 & 3612 are two 5-storey Buildings with ground floor Shops and 5th floor Penthouses / 3607 for the modeller with a sense of humour - "Rabbit School" complete with rabbits / 3615 Trout Smoke House with outside Eating Area / 3965 Ice Cream Parlour (ideal for parts & open spaces) / 2418 "Model Railway" Shop and 2419 "Hot Chestnut" Stand in the shape of a train. Additions to the BIO range - 3962 "Juice" Shop / 3963 Egg Sales Kiosk and 3864 Chicken House and under the RETRO section - 3616 Travel Agency / 5703 Goods Shed and 3900 "Rothenburg Tower & City Gate.
