NURNBERG 2010 REPORT

Welcome to WINCO's 2010 Nurnberg Report. As usual I will only give information on the ranges which WINCO sell and once again some of the information included was sourced before the Toy Fair was held.

First of all BEMO - our largest turnover range!

BEMO: this year there are a few new mouldings but basically a lot of the items are reworks on previous models. Some items, which I will list first of all, have "Cut Off Dates" and these have to be pre-ordered by a certain date to secure supplies (30th APRIL 2010).

The 2010 Model of the Year is a Metal Collection MOB Xm 2/2 Overhead Maintenance Vehicle (1279397). Also in the Metal Collection and with "Cut Off Dates" are RhB Steam Loco "Heidi" (1295121) and an RhB Xrot 9214 Snowplough (1299114 and 194) the latter version also having Digital & Sound. The rest of the "Cut Off Date" items are with the normal plastic bodies and are an RhB Bogie Tank Wagon "Hans Fischer" (2289133) / RhB Be 4/4 Pendelzug Unit in 1980's livery (7243104) and the same model in the 2000 Livery (7243153). Also a set of 3 x RhB L-Type Wagons in 1910's Livery (7454100) / BVZ Krokodil 1970's Livery (1253514) and two MOB BDe 4/4 Railcars nos: 3005 & 3006 in the blue livery (1281335 and 336). These railcars are basically used for shunting / maintenance duties although they are marked "Golden Pass Services".

Another item of interest is the "Davoser" Pendelzug (7265141). Although shown as a Set it is highly likely the items shown will be boxed individually.

The other main item to list is the new RhB ABe 8/12 "Allegra" 3-Car EMU (7244101).

All in all there are 48 new RhB items / 3 x BVZ / 6 x BRUNIG / 1 x DFB /

8 x FO / 1 x MGB and 13 x MOB items.

All our Club members should receive a copy of the 2010 New Items leaflet with this report but we still have some left in stock for other interested parties so if you would like to send us 3 x 2nd Class stamps to cover postage we will forward a copy on to you.

BRAWA: a 70-page New Items leaflet again concentrating on locos and rolling stock rather than accessories. We have a number of these leaflets available. 8 x 2nd Class stamps please to cover postage on this one.

Many of the locos shown come in four different versions - DC, AC, DC Digital and AC Digital Premium - each version having slightly different specifications. For the record we only carry the standard DC models as stock items - all other variants can be obtained to special order. Therefore for the purpose of this report I will only list the DC coded items.

40450 Prussian G5 Loco of the KPEV

40454 DRG Class BR54 Steam Loco

40500 KPEV T8 0-6-0 Steam Loco

40504 DRG Class BR89 0-6-0 Steam Loco

The majority of the remaining Steam locos appear to be re-runs / revamps of previously produced models. The same appears to apply to the Diesel and TALENT ranges. There is however a completely new Railcar (code 44130) which is a DRG Elt1019 Electric Railcar in red/cream and also the DB Class ET89 Railcar in maroon (44134).

For the DR there are eight new REKO Passenger Coaches, all having been remoulded together with some DR Stake Wagons and some DB Gbkl Closed Vans. There are also four new Bogie Tank Wagons. The rest of the rolling stock appears to be variants of previously released items. This is also the case with the N Gauge items which all look to be revamps of existing models.

The final thing to note is that BRAWA have gone back to the Cable Cars, this time with a brand new Gondola unit no. 6342 based on the "Hahnenkamm" near Kitzbuhel in Austria. However this one would look equally good in lots of other countries as well!

BUSCH: once again there are a number of new items here. The most interesting is a Working Mine Railway System running on MARKLIN Z gauge track. The models appear very simple but are very effective whilst moving. To go with the Mine Locos and Wagons there are a number of Coal Mine Buildings including a Working Pit Head. Check out the BUSCH new items on www.busch-model.com.

D & R: this Company was not present at the show this year so I don't have any information or prices until we contact them shortly to find out their plans for 2010.

FALLER: it's quite interesting now to see more of the "old" POLA items reappearing in the FALLER range.

Once upon a time FALLER kits were all plastic but now many of them now come with real wood parts and lasercut card being introduced into the constructions. This lasercut technology vastly reducing the manufacturer's costs. This is quite apparent in 110096 "Klingenburg" Station / 120116 a large Signal Box / 120246 Goods Depot / 130336 Country Fire Station and 110121 a rather massive Station "Volgelsheim". Other items of note are 120258 Road Maintenance Depot / 130476 two Industrial Cement Silos / 130491 Town Hall / 130490 Village Church and a whole series of 3-floor Terraced Houses, many of which have shops in the lower levels. A little accessory which I thought "that's a good idea!" is 180606 a Covered Shopping Trolley Bay - ideal to go with those Supermarkets.

The 2010 LIMITED EDITION is 130467 Coke Depot (coal not fizzy drink!!).

Only one HO Fairground Ride for this year - 140429 "Rainbow Millenium".

In N gauge the lasercut theme continues with 212116 "Klingenburg" Station and 222112 Goods Depot. Other N items of note - 232247 Sawmill / 232246 Recycling Depot / 222205 Old Coal Mine / 222206 Gravel Plant / 232201 Town Fire Station and 232304 two Apartment Blocks.

HERIS: very little to report on here. HERIS are still very slow in producing new moulds although there are quite a few re-runs of existing Coaches with new running numbers shown and available which include some CityNightLine Coaches now on route to us.

Please keep an eye on our Website or next Newsletter for details.

HAG: there is nothing new to report for 2010 as such. The first of the GTW 2/6's (Thurbo version) should be over with us in the next 3 weeks and the BLS version shortly afterwards. There are some new 460's in both plain red and advertising liveries and as usual the Re 4/4's, Re 6/6's,

Ae 6/6's and 450's all come in with new names and running numbers. There will also be a new HAG catalogue available hopefully towards the end of May 2010.

We have a number of 2010 New Item leaflets available (3 x 2nd Class stamps to cover postage please).

There are no price increases this year for the locos but rolling stock prices will increase by 3%.

HERPA: basically not much to say other than we now have an account with HERPA and will gradually be bringing in models. If there is anything specific you require please let us know and we will order them in.

HOBBYTRADE: another Company we don't deal with that often but we can always order in anything you require.

They also have a new catalogue for 2010 which shows some interesting Scandinavian models. As with LS some items are produced in many variants, such as the DSB S Class 2-6-4 Tank Loco with four running numbers, the DSB D Class 2-6-0 Tender Loco with two variants and five versions of the NSB Class EL 13 Electric. Something else completely new is a series of Type Lgnss 2-axle Wagons with 2 x "Die Post" Containers on them.

Once again and as frequently mentioned throughout this Report - please keep an eye on our Website / Newsletter for more information.

JAGERNDORFER: at long last we have some of the 1822 Locos on route and I have also seen some of the RailJET Coaches which will hopefully follow on shortly.

Announced for the future are some standard coloured OBB Class 1116's and a "Wiener Lokalbahn" one - classed as ES64 (code 21030) alongwith the "RailJET" versions. In coaches there is a 3-coach OBB CityShuttle Double-deck Set (71301) and a 2-coach OBB CityShuttle Double-deck Set (71201).

They also have other items planned which are being produced for them in conjunction with ACME, RIVAROSSI, LS Models and HobbyTRAIN N.

KATO / HOBBYTRAIN: at long last the SBB Double-deck Coaches should be available in the next couple of months. However before then two items will appear as Limited Editions - 25106 will be a Class 460 with 2 x Double-deck Coaches (which I think are 1st/Baggage and 1st) and another set 25107 which will consist of a 2nd Class / Bistro and 2nd Driving Trailer. There will only be 400 of these sets produced. I have ordered some so if you want either of these please place your order as soon as possible.

Other new items worth mentioning - some "RailJET" sets in 2 parts - one set consisting of Loco and 3 x Coaches and the other set as 3 x Coaches and Driving Trailer. Each pair of sets will come in three versions - 25211 and 25210 "Spirit of Switzerland" / 25206 and 25205 "Spirit of Munich" and finally 25201 and 25200 "Spirit of Vienna".

There are also two Re 4/4 I's with rounded ends - 11601 in green and 11604 in red / two corridor end Re 4/4 I's - 11604 in red and 11603 in green and finally an Re 4/4 I (11605) in TEE livery. Other new items include a Set consisting of a Class 66 in "HGK Transpetrol" and 3 x "Transpetrol" Wagons (5001). Also a TAURUS in chrome to celebrate 175-Years of German Railways (2758) / a Re 474 in NF (Swiss Italian) CARGO livery (2906) and a new Swiss Restaurant Coach in "Railpin" livery (23204) - the same Restaurant Coach will also be available in TEE and SBB liveries. The latter two models having different running numbers to those previously released.

This year looks to be a good year for the HOBBYTRAIN range. There are also Nohab Diesels to come in various liveries. Keep an eye on our Website / Newsletters as they appear.

KIBRI: big changes here! KIBRI has now been taken over by VIESSMANN. At present KIBRI have 3 months to sell off some of their existing stocks at which point VIESSMANN will take over.

I have secured supplies of KIBRI for the future but at present there are no new items on the kit side but I understand that as the year goes on new items and re-runs will start to appear. Also the whole pricing structure has changed and as yet I have not worked out if this will be good or bad.

One hopes a new catalogue will appear and when the changeover is complete we will produce a new price list. We have just ordered in another consignment from the "old" KIBRI company so our present price list should continue for at least another 3 months.

LS: LS have really fired my imagination with a massive new catalogue and a great new Swiss section including the giant Bm 6/6 Diesel in 9 versions. They also show the Bm 4/4 Diesel Shunter in 8 variants, a small Tm IV in 8 versions and the RBe 4/4 (RBe 540) Railcar in 9 versions.

There are literally dozens of new coaches and wagons and even a page of projected items. Obviously there are also lots of new French, Belgian, Dutch, German, Austrian, CFL and CityNightLiners in the pipeline.

We should have some catalogues available hopefully before not too long. Please keep an eye on our Newsletters and Website to see the items as they come in. Again it is always best to pre-order these items. I know it sometimes takes a long time before they materialise but it is the best way to secure a particular model. Often they are only done as one-off runs.

LILIPUT: out of all the Companies I found that LILIPUT had the most new items which actually stirred my attention.

After a long discussion I think I have now sorted out a way to secure all LILIPUT items for the future. Previously we have had difficulty with the supply of this range and have missed out on some of the new releases which we had ordered and in turn some of our customers were let down. I am now confident enough with the new system to start taking pre-orders once again for LILIPUT.

The first things to list are HO -

There is to be a new 4-Car SBB FLIRT Set (133992) / a new SBB DOMINO Pendelzug 3-Car set with low-floor Centre Coach (133940) together with an extra 2 x Centre Coaches (133960) to make into a 5-Car Unit. Also there is a new 4-coach Gotthard Set in green (350116) alongwith an additional matching Coach with operating tail lights (329966). In wagons there is a new Swiss "POST" Double-Container Wagon (240036) / another double set of BLS Auto Transporter Wagons with new running numbers (240079) and two Ballast Wagons with new running numbers - "Makies AG" (224163) and "Weiacher Kies" (224698).

In HOe the U-type 0-6-2 returns in four versions with NEM pocket couplings. Also a Zillertal Diesel Loco no. D15 which is a Bogie loco (142100) a Zillertal Driving Trailer (344520) and a matching Centre Coach (344530). The Zillertal 0-6-0 Diesel is back again as no. D12 with flashing roof light (142121) and the same loco is available as a V12 in "Rhein-Sieg-Eisenbahn" livery (142125). There are also quite a few new variants of 2-axle Coaches and wagons for HOe.

This year LILIPUT are to venture into N gauge with a 4-Coach SBB FLIRT EMU (163970) together with DB and EUROBAHN versions of the same.

L.G.B.: a very colourful New Items leaflet with many colourful pages but unfortunately most of the new items are items originally announced last year which have not yet been released! The other items appear to be reworked models, for example a non-existant RhB Krokodil in green.

Shown is a pair of Wagons for carrying Molten metal but these are not listed for any particular rail company. There are a number of RhB items (all previously announced) - 28434 Ge 4/4 II "Samedan" / 23390 ABe 4/4 Railcar in green / 30523 RhB Dining Coach / 32530 green 2nd Class Coach / 31553 2-axle Maintenance Coach / 47891 "POST" Container and 48830 Bogie Tanker.

The leaflet also includes a number of American items.

MEHANO: yes they were there but in a totally different Hall under their parent company guise. However I had an interesting conversation with them and hopefully we will soon start bringing in a few more MEHANO items.

As per always keep an eye on the "Latest Arrivals" section of our website.

NAROBAHN / TI-HO: Werner tells me there will not be any new mouldings this year due to financial costs but there will be some new releases made up of existing models with different running numbers and liveries including two new versions of the Log Crane Wagon.

PIKO: as you know we do not hold models of the main range (although we will always order them in for you) but we do stock the HOBBY range and once again there are a number of new HOBBY locos which include 59411 BLS Am 843 / 2 x VOSSLOH G1206's - 59481 "RAG" Livery and 59480 "EH" Livery. Also three Class 185 Electrics - 59541 in "HGK" Livery / 59540 in DB "Railion" and 57930 "Railpool" Livery.

POLA G: there are three new items in this range for 2010 - 331005 Waterhouse (building with built-in water crane) / 331017 Bakery & accessories and 331004 Transformer Station complete with vehicle.

PREISER: as per usual there are quite a few new sets of figures here. Some of them appear to be around the War period with Refugees, German Youths / Returnees (basically the reverse of refugees!) - I don't think we will add these to our range but there are some other good sets - 10606 Free Climbers / 10614 Flea Market / 10607 "Vespa" Riders and also some interesting Accessory packages.

ROCO / FLEISCHMANN: I don't know what to say but hot on the heels of the new catalogue issued at the end of last year with the Autumn new items now comes another booklet of 148 pages of new items for 2010! In many cases FLEISCHMANN and KLEIN Modellbahn models have been fused into the ROCO brand and also a lot of the Autumn New Items have now gone into the 2010 booklet. To be honest the catalogue dots about from one place to another in no apparent order so I think it's best just to list a few items here and ask you to send for the New Items leaflet. We have quite a few of the 2010 New Item leaflets available - 10 x 2nd Class stamps please to cover the postage.

ROCO HO: the main new item is an SNCF 4-6-2 Steam Loco (62300) presumably a preserved one of the Chapelon 231 Series as it is shown as Epoche III. There are some interesting SWISS Digital Start Sets, one consisting of an Re 4/4 and 3 x Coaches (41312) and another with an Ae 3/6 and 3 x Coaches (41305) - the latter being a standard digital controller, the former with the remote digital controller which ROCO appear to be introducing into their own range and that of FLEISCHMANN. There is also the return of the "Glaskasten" Tank Engine (63228). A number of pages are devoted to Train Sets. Individual items which can be bought together to make up a prototype train, ie: "Blaue Enzian" / SNCF "Le Capitol" / OBB "Mozart" and OBB "RailJet".

There are 3 brand new versions of the RegioShuttle (this is similar to the existing BEMO item). We have the return of an SBB Krokodil in green (63897) and another Ee 3/3 Shunter in brown (62667). There is also the reintroduction of the BLS Ae 8/8 (63887) an Ae 6/6 in red (62635) and a new combination Re 10/10 (43847) consisting of a permanently coupled Re 4/4 and Re 6/6.

Once again the ICN Tilting Train is shown (it's been in the last 3 catalogues!) but now there is a digital sound version as well. There is also a complete new construction of the FS E432 (62380) which looks quite good for earlier FS modellers.

As far as other items go they all appear to be reliveried models of previous issues. For Swiss fans there is a good range of re-run coaches but beware they are 1:96 - not 1:87 (ie: short!). In fact there are quite a few "short" items coming back into the range.

In Wagons the ROCO range now shows the CarRailLogistic wagons which were previously advertised as FLEISCHMANN. These look very similar to the TiHO models but looking at the price are considerably more expensive and I believe underscale. I hope ROCO will re-adjust the prototypes and make them to scale length. The digital Telescopic Wagons with sliding sides and sound feature in many liveries - RENFE / Dutch / Austrian and German. It's a shame they aren't doing the same sets without all the digital. Also beware as usual quite a few Container wagons are shown but these only come in "Dealer Sets" (ie: 6 x 6 types of wagons). I can't see us bringing these in because we always end up with one or two types that no-one wants and although they appear to be a good price the dealer always loses out!

ROCO HOe: the little HOe 0-6-0 Diesel makes a reappearance in black (33207) with the name "Zollern". Also some of the Industrial Wagons reappear in sets of four. 4 x Open Plank Wagons (34611) / 4 x Coal Wagons (34612) and 4 x Iron Ore Wagons (34613). Also shown is a set of 3 x DR Open Wagons with Potato loads (34599) and another "Mariazell" Electric (33222) alongwith a re-release of the 3 x Coach Set + Loco "Otscherbar" in the brown livery (31026).

FLEISCHMANN N: this is the first time ever that I can remember when the FLEISCHMANN N New Items leaflet is larger than the HO one with 86 pages. We have a number of copies in stock so if you would like a copy then please send in 5 x 2nd Class stamps to cover postal costs.

Looking through the booklet is appears that some of the ROCO N has now been revamped and put into the FLEISCHMANN range. The only thing I would say is due to the fact that FLEISCHMANN have just produced a new catalogue a lot of the supposedly "New Items" have already been listed and are in fact now available. This is shown quite clearly on the first few pages. For the first time a Euro price has been included in the catalogue but beware - this price is without VAT which varies from country to country and is only a guide.

There is a new construct model of the DB Class 92 Tank Loco (709206) and also versions for Austria (709203) / Poland (709205) and SNCF (709202). A Digital Set with digitally opening doors on the wagons for the DRG (7810181) / DB (781082) and DR (781089) is also shown. As for Diesel and Electric locomotives, there are many more re-liveries of existing models. The Swiss Re 4/4 in green now has the climate control part moulded into the body (734401) and the Ae 6/6 in red (737205) now comes with a new name. The BLS has two Class 185's - one in blue/grey CARGO livery and one in the green/silver CARGO scheme (738506 and 507 respectively). There is also A CFL Class 146 (738508) in the latest livery.

In the way of Coaches many of these now come in Sets of 2 or 3 models. I am not sure this is a good idea but anyway there is a 4-Coach set belonging to "IGE-Tours" labelled "Classic Courier" (811401) / an Austrian TEN Sleeper in blue (864701) / also two sets of Coaches to make up the "MOZART" set. The first one has 3 x OBB orange Eurofimas (816701) and the second set 1 x OBB in orange and 2 x SNCF 2-tone grey Eurofimas (816702). There is also a supplementary orange OBB Coach to add on (816901). The SBB has 3 individual Coaches labelled "CityNightLine" in the normal dark blue livery - a Dining Coach (860601) / Sleeper (860701 and Baggage (860801. There are also 2 x Sleepers Set in 2-tone blue (811801) and 2 x WLAB Sleepers "Stars & Moon" (865702).

Also in the leaflet are some 18 pages of wagons - far too many to list so if you want a copy of the New Items booklet to refer to please see beginning of this section.

FLEISCHMANN HO: a 52-page New Items guide. Again we have loads of these booklets in stock - 4 x 2nd Class stamps for this one please.

I must admit that not being heavily into FLEISCHMANN HO it's difficult for me to judge what is new and what is a revamp so at present the best I can do is to list a few items which caught my eye. Again as in the N leaflet the first few pages are dedicated to "brand new items" which have already been released.

A few things worth noting are: 0-10-0 Tank Loco (409401) for "RAG" (Ruhrkohle AG), a new Rack 2-6-0 Tank (403403) and also suitable for this loco some 2-axle Coaches based on the Bergheimer Lokalbahn - Post Van (505701) and 2 x 2nd Class Coaches (505801 / 901).

It looks as though our original assertion of the FLEISCHMANN HO range is coming true. All this year's items are either Steam or Steam related with nothing later than Epoche III.

RIETZE: there is a new catalogue this year, together with a New Items booklet for February - May 2010. Some items worth mentioning -

31190 VW Transporter "CoOp" (CH) / 31505 FORD Transit "Swiss Die Post - Bern Region" / 60879 IVECO Truck "Emil Egger St Gallen" (CH) / 66575 MB Citaro "TPG Geneva" (CH) / 65820 MAN Regio "Wiener Lokalbahnen" (A) / 16149 N Gauge SETRA "Die Post" (CH) and in 1:43 (O Gauge) 14207 MB Citaro Swiss "Die Post" Bus.

TRIX / MINITRIX: The TRIX New Items leaflet is once again quite large and includes both the TRIX HO and MINITRIX N ranges. It appears as if TRIX are having a "dig" at ROCO as quite a few items shown have already been produced by ROCO over the years.

HO: one item which particularly stands out is 22191 the legendary DB Class 49 "Glass Train" Railcar which comes with a built-in DCC/Selectrix/ analogue Chip including sound. To celebrate 175-Years of German Railways there is a model of the original German train - "The Adler" (21236). The SBB is covered with 22865 RBe 2/4 "Red Arrow" / 22244 Re 4/4 I in green / 21238 a "TEE Bavaria" Set consisting of Re 4/4 I in red/green, 2 matching DB coaches and an SBB Restaurant coach. There is also to be an "SBB Cargo" Ae 6/6 - 22775. The French also have a 4-Car TGV set 22364 together with 3 add-on sets of Coaches.

N: there are far too many items to list but here are some of the items which caught my eye - 12465 DB Overhead Maintenance Vehicle / 12287 DB Kof / 12284 "HVLE" TRAxx Diesel / 12327 SBB Cargo Class 437 Electric and also some more gigantic sets of Wagons and Coaches. I do wish they wouldn't do this but just sell them as individuals.

ViTRAINS: a new catalogue for 2010 with lots of different models which will not go into production until 2011. It's quite interesting that a small company such as ViTRAIN are laying out their stall for the future. Keep an eye on our website for all the new items from this manufacturer including the GTW 2/6's later this year.

VOLLMER: there are a number of new kits in both HO and N gauge this year. Here are just a few to wet your appetite -

HO: 3664 "BIO" Supermarket / 3663 "Lang" Bakery / 3621 Carpenter "Huber" / 5635 Gravel Loader / 5599 "Pfizi's" Car Bodyshop Garage / 3634 "McDonald's" Drive-in and 5611 "The Old Signal Box" Brewery.

Road Vehicles - for the first time I have ordered some of the VOLLMER cars. These models are die-cast HO scale and very reasonably priced. Most modellers have quite a few vehicles on their layouts - they don't need to be super-detailed and at around £2.50/each they must make a welcome addition.

N: 7613 "Christmas Village" Set (similar to the HO version) - the buildings are also available individually: 7612 Chapel / 7615 Post Office/ 7617 Gingerbread House / 7625 Kiosk and 7617 Mulled Wine Stand.

Reading through this Report you will notice that some of the Companies we deal with have not been listed above. These include - FERRO TRAIN / STANGL / ACME / MARKLIN / DEAK / NOCH / Leopold HALLING / SOMMERFELDT / HObbex and WIKING to name just a few.

Please don't be worried as we will continue to deal with all of them, even if only sporadically. We will also continue to take orders for any specific items required from any of these companies.

For further information on all our suppliers please keep an eye on our Website (www.wino.uk.com) or refer to our Newsletters.
