The wagon is intended for the transport of wood pulp (wood chips and sawdust but is also used for the transport of waste paper, refuse and scrap iron. Some of these older Railtrans wagons were deposited on the sidings of SVB {Salzburg Traffic Management).

Many of these high capacity wagons are built in France on chasses of different types of old SNCF wagons and let out and registered to other railway undertakings.

The wagons are fitted with Knorr type airbrakes, and many with a 3-spoked hand-operated wheel. The outside access ladder is situated at the end of the wagon. Two inspection ports are situated at diagonally opposite corners. The outer chassis is slightly tapered to the buffer backplate.

The Railtrans company's private waggons are used in large numbers throughout Europe especially in block trains to transport wood chips, sawdust, rags and waste paper for the Bahnspedition Rail & Sea Sped GmbH (based in Strasswalchen, near Salzburg} spread over Austria and Eastern Europe. They also run in Germany in privately drawn trains which the Salzburger Eisenbahn Transport Logistik Gmbh (SETG} organises with locomotives of the Mittelweserbahn (MWB).

These wagons circulate regularly between the large sawmills and waste paper and rag depots throughout Europe.
